animal abuse = human abuse

Recently I have found a new source, "Enacting and Enforcing Felony Animal Cruelty Laws to Prevent Violence Against Humans" by Joseph G. Sauder. In this book Joseph wrote "Children who witness abuse are more likely to abuse animals and eventually humans; even minor acts of animal abuse are signs of a disturbed individual and should be taken seriously." I enjoy this quote a lot because it sums up most of his writing in one sentence. The way that he organized his article is by drawing a correlation between two things in order to prove his point. He made the correlation between animal abuse and abuse in general cause abuse in humans. This is such a good correlation because not everyone cares about animals, but it is safe to say that everyone cares about humans. I plan on using this in my essay by saying that animal abuse leads to human abuse, therefore new laws need to be put in place in order to prevent further violence against humans. Joseph states a law that states “Every person who shall maliciously kill, maim or wound any horse, ox or other cattle, or any sheep, belonging to another, or shall maliciously and cruelly beat or torture any such animals, whether belonging to himself or another, shall upon conviction, be adjudged guilty of a misdemeanor.”
