Thesis troubles

With this up and coming research assignment my first step is to figure out what my essay is going to prove. For me this is always the hardest part, regardless of the essay, so I sat down and brainstormed for awhile. The first topic that came to mind was about the fast food industry. The reason I thought of this mainly because recently I've started to eat healthier and I know that fast food restaurants do some horrible things to animals in order to make the most money. After some revision I came up with a pretty strong thesis, "The fast food industry sacrifices animal rights and quality in an attempt to create the best tasting food in the least amount of time possible." Another topic that I thought of came to me after my brainstorming when I turned on the television and started watching a very interesting documentary. It was called Blackfish and it was about the horrible treatment of whales. At one point in the movie they went into great detail on how orca whales were being mistreated as performance animals. This sparked an idea about the treatment of performance animals and what type of training methods are considered humane. After a free writing exercise I came up with, "The treatment of performance animals is often overlooked by the general public because the animals appear to be happy. Animals are being mistreated as performance animals because of their training methods." These two sentence serve as a good start for further research and will hopefully turn into another option for a thesis.
