Recently, I have come to
the conclusion that my thesis even though i have made revisions still needed
some work. It was still too general and would have set me up to write a
"information dump" essay, which is not the point of the essay.
Therefore I changed it to "what legislative, health/safety, and corporate
changes should be made to the fast food industry as a result of their neglect
to cater to animal rights." I feel that this thesis give my essay some
direction and now it will actually have a point if I can properly write it. I
do know that this is still not a perfect thesis and I do want it to be better,
but I am having trouble improving on it. I would be very thankful if I could
get feedback from my peers, giving me some new ideas or suggestions,
to ultimately improve my thesis, so I can write the best essay
possible. Thanks everyone

Looking Into My Topic
As I continue to look
further into my topic I am starting to branch off from my main point. My main
point is the cruelty that goes on in the fast food industry so am naturally branching off into
animal safety, more specifically legislation and activism. So one thing that need to know what actual
legislation is already in place. Online I found a law journal library that
contains all of the legislation that is passed about anything. As I looked
through I found one on animal rights and what has been passed in regards to
that. The next thing that I have
to look at is who the activists are. The biggest one i could find on the web
was of course PETA. PETA has done many things in regards to animal rights and
has by far the biggest following.

That is the link to their website (non scholarly) where they post articles
regarding what they are doing with animal rights and people/organizations that
abuse animals.

Finding Sources
It would seem that the
only logical next step for this paper is to actually start to research and
accumulate sources. The first source that I found was a book that contains a
lot of information pertaining to the things that the fast food industry doesn't
want us to know about. This book is called Fast Food Nation: The Dark
Side Behind The All-American Meal by Eric Schlosser. This is a
perfect source for me because it is a very similar topic to mine. The parts of
this book that are most useful to me are chapter 6, On The Range, and chapter
9, called what's in the meat. These chapter expose the practices that they use
to get the meat. I plan to use this to build my argument by trying to build on
how unethical it is. Although those chapters are going to be the most useful, still I am going to have use for the rest of the book. The book gives me all of the background information that I need on the fast food industries food making process.
